Planning your Cliffs of Moher visit
The Cliffs of Moher visitor attraction combines designated viewpoints and paths with an exhibition and O'Brien's Tower. You can arrive independently or choose a Galway excursion with admission included. Plan around the visitor area: the coastal walking route has closures, including the through route from Doolin to the visitor centre.
The cliffs also show a different geological story from the inland limestone pavement. Their layers include sandstone, siltstone and mudstone deposited in a former delta landscape. Visiting both the coast and the wider Burren therefore gives you contrasting scenery. For the inland side, explore the national park guide or the overview of things to do in the Burren.

Cliffs of Moher admission and parking
The published 2026 walk-up rates are 15 EUR for adults, 12 EUR for students and 12 EUR for seniors over 65. The family rate is 30 EUR for two adults and two children under 12. Children under 12 enter free with a parent or guardian, up to a maximum of four children; this concession should not be applied generally to school or bus groups.
Admission includes parking, the visitor centre and exhibition, designated paths and viewpoints, and O'Brien's Tower. Budget per person when arriving by car. The main car park is opposite the visitor centre, so the adult admission figure is not a flat price for an entire vehicle.
Advance online booking is recommended and can cost less than walk-up admission. Choose the actual date and ticket category to see the applicable amount; keep the separately labelled 2027 tariffs distinct from a 2026 visit. Aim to arrive within 15 minutes of your booked time. The ticket description gives a two-hour visit, which is a useful starting point for arranging the next stage of your day.
Opening hours and visitor access
Published opening hours run from 09:00 to 17:00 in November to February. In March, April, September and October they are 08:00 to 19:00; from May to August they are 08:00 to 21:00. Use the seasonal window for the visitor attraction and allow time to enjoy the viewpoints rather than arriving with only the last part of the day available.
The visitor centre is wheelchair accessible, with designated accessible parking and loan wheelchairs. For anyone with limited mobility, focus your planning on the visitor facilities and the particular paths you intend to use. Accessibility at the centre should be considered separately from the longer coastal route and its uneven terrain or closures.
Independent visitors can compare public transport and driving on the getting there page. Route 351 serves Doolin Pier and the cliffs, but some journeys cover only part of the route. Select the specific journey and return service rather than assuming any coastal bus will fit your plans.
Coastal path closed: through routes and southern access
The coastal walk status dated 1 August 2026 closes the entire southern section between Liscannor/Hag's Head and the visitor attraction because of safety risks. The through walk from Doolin to the visitor centre is also closed. From Doolin, the northern section reaches Surfers Path with a return along the same route.
Keep a visit to the open visitor area distinct from a long coastal walk. Follow designated paths and barriers, and respect closure notices. Do not climb fences or walls to continue a route. The road at Surfers Path is dangerous and should not be used as a bypass. For a Doolin-based day, organise transport to the visitor attraction instead of planning a walking connection through the closed section.
Full-day excursions or a shorter independent visit
The 8.5-hour Galway day trip starts at Kinlay Hostel on Merchants Road and includes bus transport, a driver-guide and cliffs admission. The 8-hour full-day option starts at the pick-up point on Forster Street and includes air-conditioned transport, a driver-guide and entry to the visitor experience; Aillwee Cave admission is extra.
The independent half-day option lasts 315 minutes and includes an air-conditioned vehicle and visitor centre entry. It meets outside the HYDE Hotel on Forster Street, with check-in at 07:45 for the 08:00 departure or 11:45 for the 12:00 departure. Choose it for transport and your own visit at the attraction. A sea-level view is a separate choice covered in the cliffs boat trip guide.
